Fantastic history

Beautiful and scenic. They have you buy tickets which are very reasonable and you can take a self guided tour through. There are cases with historic armor and weapons. Beautiful architecture and halls. Simply a must see if you are nearby or visiting! It is up on a hill so bring some comfortable shoes and some water! Would love to come back.

We stop in this castle 2 years ago in our Eurotrip and it was very interesting. Definitely you have to see the tower W the well and of course you can not skip the stanning view of the whole city. After that you can also walk to the town centre which is nice W the open market and other city landmarks....

The views from outside the castle looming down into the city were incredible. We did also do a tour of the inside of the castle, however it was not worth the price. You can get the same feel of the culture and history just from the outside. However, they very good about social distancing and limited admittance during corona times which made us feel safe in choosing this tour.

A magnificent Castle. It is still preserved even a hundred years past.

Best steak in town!

Walked up to see the view across the city. Didn’t go inside so can’t comment on that. It’s quite steep to walk up in case you have difficulty doing that. It’s all on cobbles as well. There are great views across the city from inside the walls.

The best place to look at the whole town at night.

The place has a one in one out polciy during the pandemic for the rooms which is very ineffecient. Very tedious and boring.

Large and extensive medivial castle, not only of great historical interest but as well offering excellent vistas over old town. Easy walk from town center and full of novel details and views.

It was a great day to visit the castle. Outside was enough, inside does not work worth to go.. don’t waste your time to visit the empty boring inside castle.

DO NOT go there as long as the corona pandemic is still active!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The palace only allows for a few people at once per room so even if you get past the entrance, you can expect to keep waiting and waiting for every single next room of the castle. I am sure they have every valid reason to organize it like that but the sad reality is that you re gonna be in for a frustrating and unbearable experience. I will gladly delete this review after the coronavirus restrictions are lifted. in the meantime please avoid this place

Such a beautiful castle! Very kind staff, and very helpful. Absolutely our favorite part of our visit to Nuremburg. English Speakers: They speak excellent english and are super helpful! Those with disabilities: unfortunately not fully wheelchair accessible, due to the narrow staircases in the old castle design but they are very accommodating to disability needs, and anyone visiting with a disability can expect a pleasant positive experience with caring and helpful staff.

Nuremberg, which was first mentioned in a document as a royal property in 1050, played an important part in the imperial and domestic policy of the Salian and Hohenstaufen kings and emperors. The castle and town were a favourite stopping place for rulers on their journeys through the realm, and court assemblies and Imperial Diets were held here. In order to provide an appropriate setting for these events, the Hohenstaufens built an extended castle complex on the rocky elevation over the remains of older buildings, which is still largely what we see today. To administer the imperial property and maintain order they installed a burgrave, who resided in the front area of the complex (the so-called Burgrave’s Castle). In 1191 the office of burgrave passed to the Counts of Zollern. In the Middle Ages, the Nuremberg castle was one of the most important imperial castles of the Holy Roman Empire. The huge complex was built by the Hohenstaufens and their successors over the remains of previous buildings from the time of the Salians. The double Imperial Chapel is one of the oldest remaining parts of the castle complex (c. 1200). Some of the imperial residential and state rooms in the Palas have late medieval and Renaissance panelling. The exhibition in the castle was redesigned in 2013. The new concept shows not only clear explanations of the elements and function of the castle in their historical context, but also presents information about the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation and the role of Nuremberg in the late Middle Ages in a vivid and exciting form that will appeal to visitors of all ages.

Very beautiful castle, especially nice because it's directly in the city and therefore quickly accessible. Please note that it is on a small but somewhat steep hill so it might be exhausting for some people to go up there. It's worth it, though!

Very medieval castle from 1300's! Real artifacts, some rooms viewable, wall frescoes visible, and CROWNS AND SCEPTERS ON DISPLAY!

Beautiful place

Due to covid/overhaul some parts are closed, the rest is not worth the money (you have to paye full price for ticket). Even though it's an imperial castle, this feature is quite vague though. Much better impression from the outside and you can see whole Old Town from the terrace. For free.
